Bhubaneswar: A female elephant ‘Julie’ died at the Nandankanan Zoological Park here Monday evening.
According to sources, Julie died due to acute abdominal pain. She was taking less food since Sunday and showing sign of acute pain causing physical discomfort since 2pm Monday. While vets of the zoological park were attending to her, she succumbed to the pain.
However, the exact cause of the death will be ascertained after post-mortem is conducted Tuesday. Julie was two months old when she was rescued from Dhenkanal Forest Division and brought to Nandankanan May 31, 2009.
