Eminent painter dies in road mishap in Balasore

Balasore: Eminent painter of Balasore Debendra Khatua died after a speeding truck rear-ended his scooter Saturday noon. The incident took place at Remuna Golei square here.

The deceased was 42 years old and is survived by his wife and an eight years old son.

A source said Khatua was on his way to Balasore town on his scooter. A private bus named Raghunath hit from the rear and then ran over him while he was trying to overtake an SUV.

Locals rushed him to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Khatua was a prominent painter of this town who has been felicitated by Odisha Lalit Kala Akademy twice.
