Bhubaneswar: Voting in some booths in Odisha got delayed Thursday due to technical glitches in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). The second phase of polling is being held for five Lok Sabha and 35 Assembly seats in the state.
In Sundergarh, technical glitches were reported in the EVMs in several booths of the Talsara Assembly constituency while polling was delayed in six booths in Bonai Assembly constituency, sources informed.
Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram had to stand for a long time in a queue at a booth in Kendudihi due to delayed polling.
In Bolangir, voting was delayed in several booths due to technical problems which cropped up with the EVM. Voters faced similar problems in Kandhamal as well and they suffered due to the scorching heat. At some places the booths did not have proper covered places to protect the people from the sun.
It was reported that EVMs were not working also in several booths in G Udayagiri and in Baliguda.
A total of 76.93 lakh voters are eligible to vote in the second phase polling in Odisha.
