Sonepur: A woman who had attempted suicide by setting herself on fire over a family feud and was undergoing treatment died Saturday. The incident was reported from Beheramal village under Dunguripali police limits in Sonepur district.
The deceased has been identified as Bhanumati Bhoi (40).
Sources said, the couple had frequent quarrels over family issues. Friday night, they had again entered into a verbal duel. Later, the deceased woman’s husband came out of the house.
Few moments later, Bhanumati had poured kerosene oil on her and set herself on fire. Hearing her distressed cries, family members came to her rescue and rushed her to Dunguripali government hospital. She was later shifted to VIMSAR, Burla in Sambalpur district as her condition did not show any sign of improvement.
While undergoing treatment she breathed her last Saturday.
She has left behind her husband and two children, a five-year-old son and a six-month-old daughter.
