Sundargarh: In a road mishap that took place early Sunday morning, a farmer couple died on the spot after a tractor they were travelling on skidded off and turned turtle.
The fatal incident took place near Khairakhaman village under Sadar police limits in Sundargarh district.
According to an eyewitness, both were on their way to their farmland for harvesting paddy in view of Cyclone Jawad. The husband, who was driving the tractor, lost control over the vehicle on the way. The tractor skidded off the road and overturned leading to the deaths.

The farmer couple got crushed under the tractor and succumbed to injuries on the spot. Some local residents rescued the duo and rushed them to a nearby government-run hospital for treatment. However, doctors at the health facility declared them brought dead.
On being informed, Sadar police reached the hospital and registered a case in this connection. Police have seized the vehicle and initiated a probe. Identity of the couple has not been ascertained yet.
