Nabarangpur: A man who is a father of two children was arrested for allegedly raping a minor at a village of Pujariguda panchayat in Nabarangpur district Sunday.
The accused, identified as Birendra Khura, was produced in a court and remanded to judicial custody as his bail plea was rejected.
The accused had visited the victim’s house December 19, 2019 and taking the advantage of her being alone at the house, he raped her. He had threatened her not to disclose what had happened with her to anyone or she would be murdered.
Fearing death, she had also kept it to herself. In the days followed, the accused had raped the victim on several occasions.
Sensing something wrong, family members asked her what had been ailing her. Upon knowing everything from the victim, the family lodged a report with Tentulikhunti police station leading to Khura’s arrest.
