Feast for the ears at Rabindra Mandap

Bhubaneswar: Shakuntla Music Academy organised a musical evening that featured several budding singers as part of their 8th annual function at Rabindra Mandap, Sunday. Fifteen upcoming singers presented hit songs from Hindi and Odia at the event.

The programme commenced with the Odia song ‘Dhali dia sara’, presented by Swarnali, who also sang the hit Bollywood number ‘Dil main ho tum’, followed by Odia number ‘Phula rasia re’ and an the Hindi song ‘Raat ka shama’, presented by Saranya.

Ipsita presented Bollywood songs ‘Naino main bhadra chhaye’ and ‘Dama dum mast kalandar’, which was followed by Rituparna’s rendition of ‘Mayabini bana jochanna’ and ‘Pyar karne wale’.

Odia song ‘Sunara chadhei’ and Hindi film song ‘Ram teri ganga maili’ were sung by Sanchita. Jasmeen presented ‘Mahi ve’ and ‘Kisi naraz ko tera’.

The final performer of the evening was Rosalin who sang ‘Tu sayar hai, main teri sahyaari’ and the Odia number ‘Pada re pada chhanda’.

Organiser of the event Saradha Prasanna Sahoo said he has been teaching music for the past eighteen years and that several of his students have participated in many national and state-level competitions.

Ashashree Mudali, a budding singer who is passionate about music said: “Sunidhi Chauhan and my mother are my idols, they inspired me a lot. I want to become a professional singer. I am working hard to participate in national level reality shows.”

Santanu Prusty, father of singer Rituparna, said: “After ten years my daughter is performing on stage; I am excited to see her performing after so long.”

Health Minister Pratap Jena and MLA Bijayshree Routray were present at the event.
