Bhubaneswar: In a bid to harness the potential of the food processing sector, Odisha government will set up five food parks in the state within three years, said Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) CMD Sanjay Kumar Singh.
Singh addressed the gathering at the State Annual Day of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) held at a city hotel, Wednesday.
Singh said that the five food parks will be set up in Bargarh, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Nabarangpur and Berhampur.
“Bargarh Food Park will be set up in Gopalpur, Bolangir Food Park at Sadeipali, Kalahandi Food Park at Kurlupada, Nabarangpur Food Park at Kodinga, and Berhampur Food Park at Kanishi. The government has approved Rs 250 crore for these parks and around Rs 50 crore will be invested in each park,” Singh said. He added that about 50 acre land has been allotted for each park for its development.
Moreover, the state government has decided to set up 30 MSME parks or new industrial estates in all the districts. According to Idco officials, “This year’s Budget has considered for about 23 MSME parks. Around Rs 460 crore (Rs 20 crore each) has been estimated for the development of MSME parks in the state. Seven such parks have already been approved last year.”
The Idco CMD said that government is looking after the strength of a particular district and based on its possibilities, the MSME parks will be established.
He also said that the state government is developing large number of sectoral parks in the state.
“During development of Sectoral Parks, the state government will obtain all statutory clearances so that the units don’t have to get all the clearances separately. The government will obtain environmental clearances in advance, layout approval from BDA and consent to establish from OSPCB for the sectoral parks. Investors just need to get two approvals – building plan and consent to operate,” Singh added.
In addition, three new Idco towers will come up in Sambalpur, Balasore and Berhampur. About Rs 300 crore (Rs 100 crore each) is the estimated cost for the towers. It will be used by startups and small units as plug and play facility.
