Former Sundargarh MLA injured in road mishap

Banarpal: In a tragic road mishap, former Sundargarh MLA Jogesh Singh and two of his aides suffered grievous injuries after the car they were travelling in rammed into a tree near Mahidharpur under Banarpal police limits in Angul district in the wee hours of Saturday.

Later, the vehicle caught fire and was completely gutted. The injured, who were rescued before the car caught fire, were first admitted to Angul district hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital after their condition worsened.

The other injured duo has been identified as Pradeep Sahu and Pratap Rout.

According to reports, Jogesh, Pradeep and Pratap were travelling from Sundargarh to Bhubaneswar by a car. The accident happened when the car driver Tankadhar Bag tried to avoid a collision with a truck that was coming from the opposite direction at 3 am.

The car veered off the road and crashed into a tree at Mahidharpur.
