New Delhi, May 31: It was interesting to see Facebook debates on Giridhar Gamang’s resignation from Congress. The veteran politician’s son Shishir Gamang’s political moves have also drawn attention from many Facebook users.
Shishir, who spearheads Facebook (FB) postings glorifying his father’s deeds and justifying his resignation, has invited sharp reactions from Congress sympathisers. After senior Gamang’s press conference about his decision to quit the grand old party, his son posted pictures of the press meet with a one-liner: End of an era, beginning of a new saga.
Soon after the posting, several comments poured in. Some were juicy punch lines worthy of newspaper headlines which made the discussion interesting. There was a slugfest between pro and anti-Cong groups in the networking site. And what made things interesting were the comments from some BJP supporters. A few readable postings:
Shishir Gamango: We resigned from the Congress
Shishir: It is still a matter of question why or for what reasons she took this decision!” (speaking on Sonia Gandhi’s decision to oust Gamang as Orissa chief minister in 1999)
MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati (Cong) posts a comment in Oriya: Congress sent Giridhar Gamang from a remote village in Rayagada to Delhi. He is lucky to be nine times MP and one time CM…I don’t know if it’s his decision… In Mahabharata, Dhrutarashtra had to suffer in old age because of his son…
Rabi Satapathy: Politics is not bad but too much politics….. Mr G square, a nine time MP, is engaged in aaya Ram, gaya Ram politics…. u r a liability now, wherever u go.”
SN Mahalik: Congress apananku au kn adhika deiparithanta? Subidhabadi politics karuchha bapa-pua (What more do you expect from Congress? Both father and son are doing opportunist politics.)
Anand Mahapatra: Putra Jaye parajayam!! Wonderful Job Sir!! U have taken right decision for your children. Congratulation Gamang!! U have won the Cup !!Thank You.
