Kolkata, April 8: In spite of Morne Morkel being awarded the man of the match award for his miserly spell against MI here Wednesday at the Eden Gardens, the KKR skipper lavished praise on Suryakumar Yadav and chose him as ‘his man of the match’.
“Yadav was the game changer for us,” stated Gambhir in the post-match press conference. “Definitely Morne (Morkel) bowled well, but it was Yadav who turned the game around for us. Without him, we couldn’t have reached the target.”
Gambhir was candid enough to confess that initially he thought the target to be a tough one. “But then our batters made it look easy and we turned out to be deserving winners,” asserted the KKR skipper.
Praising the bowling effort of his team, Gambhir talked highly about Morkel as well as comeback man, Sunil Narine. “The way Sunil bowled proved his class. It is always difficult when you come back after a long lay-off” the skipper stated. “Morkel was also exceptional. He really bowled well.
Meanwhile, MI skipper Rohit Sharma while admitting that he had no regrets missing out on a century, stated that the domestic players of KKR played a major role in their side’s victory. “They (batsmen) are well aware of the conditions and used it to their advantage. Surya (Yadav) is a good batsman who plays within his limitations but is very good in chasing down totals,” stated Rohit.
The MI skipper also said that he felt bad losing after putting up what he thought to be a good total. “I have no regrets missing out on the ton, but I do feel bad at losing the game,” informed Rohit.
