Malkangiri: Police Wednesday busted a gambling den at Padmagiri area of Malkangiri district and arrested seven persons in connection with the case.
The accused persons have been identified as Kamal Ray, Guiti Padiami, Durjan Kurami, Gopi Sikdar, Somnath Duruka, Ghasiram Pedi, and Santosh Kashyap.
According to police, acting on a tip-off regarding the illegal activity in the area, a police team led by superintendent of police (SP) Rishikesh Khilari carried out the raid in a house and apprehended the accused persons.
Rs 29,680 in cash, few motorcycles, and seven mobile phones were seized from their possession, a source in the police said.
Meanwhile, a case bearing no. 252/2019 has been registered against the accused persons under relevant Sections of the IPC. The accused have been forwarded to court.
Notably, Sadar police under Berhampur police district in Ganjam October 6 busted a gambling den and arrested 11 gamblers including a juvenile.
While 10 of them were forwarded to court, the minor in the group was sent to a house of correction in Berhampur after being produced before the juvenile justice board.
