Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police, Sunday, seized contraband ganja worth over Rs 12 lakhs from a mini truck parked along the national highway near Jayadev Vihar square here. The police also arrested two persons on charges of ferrying the contraband item.
According to sources, the accused persons were transporting the ganja, sourced from Andhra, to Kolkata. The seized item, weighing 218.500 Kg, is valued at around Rs 12 lakh. The police patrolling team, suspicious about the items loaded on the mini truck, searched the bags abd found the contraband.
The accused persons held by police are, R Satyanarayan of Kottampetta and S Govind of Bajragadda in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh.
Sahid Nagar police have registered a case (208/19) under the NDPS Act in this regard.
