Bhubaneswar: The state government has set December as the deadline to remove road-access hurdles to mobile towers in an attempt to speed up network expansion in uncovered, poorly connected and border areas across the state.
The directive was issued at the eighth State Broadband Committee meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg at the state secretariat recently.
The meeting reviewed the expansion of mobile and high-capacity broadband connectivi ty, particularly in areas with weak or no network coverage.
Garg directed the Department of Telecommunications, cellular operators and broadband service providers to identify connectivity gaps and ensure their resolution within stipulated timelines.
Complaints received from MPs, MLAs and district authorities regarding poor or unavailable mobile services will also be examined and corrective measures taken.
The meeting reviewed progress of 4G saturation projects under the Digital Bharat Nidhi, besides connectivity initiatives in Aspirational Districts and Left-Wing Extremism-affected areas.
