Soro: A Fire Services Department official has been alleged of raping a girl at Kamarapur village near Soro in Balasore district on the false promise of marriage.
The accused was identified as Sangram Murmu of Saraguna village under Rasagobindapur block in Mayurbhanj district.
According to the complainant, the two had met in 2009. Sangram first lured the girl into a relationship. Promising to marry her, he convinced the girl for physical intimacy. Believing him, the two had a live-in relationship for some time.
When she was impregnated twice, Sangram forced her for abortion, saying that he wasn’t ready to start a family.
However, after getting a job in the Fire Services Department, Sangram started avoiding the girl.
Meanwhile, the girl understood that he was getting ready to marry another woman. Left with no option, the woman lodged a complaint with the Soro police Friday.
Police registered a case against Sangram and launched a probe while he was yet to be arrested.
