Girl travels 110 km to wish boy on Rose Day, turned away

Nayagarh: In a bizarre incident, a teenage girl Thursday experienced ignominy after her boy friend for who she had travelled 110 km to meet him for the first time since they had developed friendship through social media left her in the lurch. The incident having occurred on Rose Day has become a talk of the town here.

According to sources, a wrong missed call brought the girl from Puri and the boy from Nayagarh closer. The two exchanged texts and had long talks without seeing each other. With the passage of time, their relationship grew stronger. And she decided to set up a meeting to celebrate Rose Day and give surprise to her so-called boyfriend.

Dreaming a lot on how to spend the day with her boyfriend, the girl took a bus and travelled 110 km to reach the boy’s hometown. She then called the boy to Amarendra market in the town where she had decided to give him a surprise.

Unfortunately, the first meeting between the two was not as romantic as the girl had thought. The boy didn’t seem happy after meeting her. After exchange of gestures, the boy for reason best known to him left her on the pretext of going to a shop, not to return anymore.

After a long wait, it was when she was sure that she had been duped, she had no other option but to weep. Noticing her weeping inconsolably, people in the market informed police. Later, town police rescued her and their investigation spilled the bean.

The girl has been kept at a shelter home and she will soon be handed over to her family, police sources said. “Maybe, he didn’t like me. But, he should have at least told me. I have travelled so far for him and he left me mid-way in the market,” the girl said.
