Bhubaneswar: With Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s instruction on implementation of 5Ts, the government machinery has tightened up on poor attendance of employees in offices.
Following the order of the CM, a few newly-appointed ministers including Samir Dash, Arun Sahoo and Dibya Shankar Mishra have paid surprise visits to their sub-offices and taken action against the employees, who were found absent during their visit.
Now, new Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, who has already stressed on moving of files at rocket speed, instructed the secretaries of various departments to direct the government employees to work at least for seven to eight hours in their offices. If the employees continue to remain absent in the chair, their monthly salary may be deducted, official sources said.
Convening the first all-secretary meeting after taking charge, the chief secretary also instructed the officials to take steps for introduce biometric attendance system in the government offices, where the system is not available.
He also emphasised on shifting of 11 administrative departments to the newly opened Kharavela Bhawan by the end of this month. Works department has been instructed to ensure availability of all furniture in the new building in a week. The Bhawan has been built on 8.3 acre land at Unit-V here with a cost of Rs 128 crore.
