Jajpur: An audit found large scale irregularities in the civil supplies department between 2015 and 2017 in Jajpur, but the audit report has not been complied with by the department.
Financial advisor and chief accounts officer of the Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation in its letter 15101 dated October 16, 2019 has pointed out that no compliance has been made with the audit findings.
The audit detected irregularities and raised suspicion over certain transactions done during the period.
The department has repeatedly reminded the district officials to take action on it, but the head of the accounts and the district civil supplies officer have been held responsible for inaction.
Meanwhile, the district civil supplies wing has been asked to comply with the audit report by November 15.
It was earlier alleged that lakhs of rupees has been bungled through the staff of the accounts wings at rice procurement centres.
An official of the civil supplies department had tried to stem the rot and bring transparency in the system, but he was allegedly punished with a transfer without reason.
Thereafter, irregularities in the civil supplies department had doubled, it was alleged. It was learnt that the staff were illegally collecting Rs 10 per quintal of rice being procured from other districts. By simple calculation, the staff were collecting Rs 30 lakh per annum.
An assistant manager (Accounts), inspectors of rice procurement centres and some managers were involved in the irregularities.
In March and May of 2019, the department had directed the district civil supplies officer to take action against those involved in it, but nothing was done. Asked about it, district civil supplies officer Surendra Kumar Hota said as a clerk is on leave, he cannot make comments on the issue.
