Mumbai: TV actress Kamya Punjabi turns a year older today. Born August 13, 1979, Kamya is best known for her negative characters in daily soaps.

Panjabi came to be known for portraying negative roles in Indian television serials like Reth, Astitva…Ek Prem Kahani and Banoo Mein Teri Dulhann. Panjabi has also played positive roles in Piya Ka Ghar, Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak and Kyun Hota Hai Pyaar. Kamya participated in the second season of ‘Comedy Circus’ and also managed to make the audience laugh.

Apart from TV, Kamya has also worked in films. Her main films are Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, Yaadon, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Koi Mil Gaya. Kamya also participated in Bigg Boss season seven.

While in ‘Bigg Boss’, Kamya became developed friendship with actress Pratyusha Banerjee, who played the lead role in Balika Vadhu. Kamya was shocked when Pratyusha committed suicide in 2016. After Pratyusha’s death, Kamya became one of those seeking justice for her.

Kamya married her boyfriend Shalabh Dang 10 February this year. Shalabh hails from Delhi who is associated with the Healthcare industry. This is Kamya’s second marriage. Earlier, she was married to businessman Bunty Negi, but the relationship lasted only 10 years. After which Kamya got divorced in the year 2013. Kamya has a daughter from her first husband.

Earlier, the actor had shared that she had decided to never get married again. However, when she met Dang, and formed a deep friendship with him, she changed her mind. Punjabi also shared that since they both are parents, they understand each other’s responsibilities.

“Men usually cannot stand strong-headed women but he is very different. He lets me be the way I am. He makes me feel emotionally secure, that made me fall in love with him. Shalabh has also been very supportive when it comes to our future. I was reluctant about marriage since we are in two different cities. But Shalabh assured that he will take care of it all,” shared Kamya Punjabi.

Since her husband is based in New Delhi, Kamya spent last few months there. Once television shoots resumed post lockdown, she flew back to Mumbai. The actor is currently seen in Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki.
