Balasore/Remuna: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Tuesday urged BJD workers to make people in rural areas aware of the pro-people programmes and projects being undertaken by the state government.
Addressing a meeting of representatives of the Biju Yuva Janata Dal (North Orissa) at NOCI Business Park in Remuna in Balasore Tuesday, Patnaik advised the party workers to talk to people and ascertain their problems and grievances.
The CM further stated that the future of the country is in the hands of the youth. Over 15,000 party workers from four districts took part in the conference and training camp.
The Chief Minister inaugurated 11 welfare projects at one place. He also laid the foundation stone for several projects including a 100-bedded hostel for SC/ST and backward community students on the premises of FM University, a drinking water project for Solpata panchayat, another drinking water project in Kuradiha panchayat, an eco-tourism project at Bichitrapur under Bhograi block, and several coastal security projects along Subarnarekha under Basta, Jaleswar and Bhograi.
The Chief Minister later reviewed the progress of construction work on the Balasore Government Medical College. He directed the health department to expedite the construction work and complete it early, apart from appointing the superintendent of the college.
He laid stress on ensuring that admission of students takes place in the next academic session.
Addressing the meeting of the BJD youth training camp, former minister Sanjay Dasburma said it is high time the students and youths of Orissa unite under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to carry forward the development of Orissa. Dasburma lambasted the Central government, saying it has neglected students, farmers, youth and labourers in Orissa. He highlighted various achievements of the state government.
Youth leaders expressed their concern over an alleged conspiracy of the Chhattisgarh government and the discriminatory policies being adopted by the Central government regarding Mahanadi water.
They laid stress on further strengthening the BJD in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak and Keonjhar. It was stated that as part of the party’s bid to consolidate the base in one year, the party aims to associate 20 lakh youths in the party. PNN
