Jharsuguda: Wanted criminal Binod Prasad was nabbed following an encounter at Chhualiberana area of Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district Saturday.
Binod sustained a bullet injury on his right leg. He has been admitted at district headquarters hospital (DHH) here.
Police recovered a pistol and three live bullets from his possession.
According to police, they were tipped off that Binod was going somewhere else on Chhualiberana road. A team then rushed towards Chhualiberana road. Seeing the cops behind him, Binod opened fire at them. In retaliation, cops too started firing at Binod injurying him in the process.
Binod has a number of cases pending against him at different police stations. He is locally known for his close association with Sonu Ghosh, another notorious hardcore criminal, police said.
