Balasore: The Odisha InterUniversity Sports and Games Competition 2025-26 began Monday at Fakir Mohan University, organised with support from the state Higher Education department.
The six-day meet, concluding February 28, has drawn over 2,300 athletes, coaches and officials from 15 universities, competing in 11 indoor and outdoor disciplines. Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi inaugurated the event, hoisting the flag with Vice Chancellor Prof. Santosh Kumar Tripathy.
A march past marked the opening ceremony. Speakers highlighted discipline, dedication and sportsmanship, stressing the role of physical activity in holistic development and encouraging participants to compete in true sporting spirit.
