Bhubaneswar, Oct 9: Orissa entered the quarterfinals of the Junior National Girls’ Football Championship thrashing Karnataka 11-0 in a Group B match at Navelim, Friday.
Orissa rode on hat-tricks by Jasmani Samad and Jabamani Tudu to rout Karnataka in the lop-sided match. Jasmani scored in the first, 24th and 35th minutes respectively while Jabamani struck in the 18th, 56th and 88th minutes. Anima Mallick scored a brace in the 38th and 76th minutes, while Swarna Priya Nayak, Bannya Kabiraj and Sasmita Behera found the back of the nets in the 22nd, 45th and 73rd minutes respectively.
GYA triumph
Golak Bihari Association (GYA) blanked Silicon Institute 2-0 in a Group C match of the Gati Krushna Memorial football League at the Unit I Boys’ HS Ground here Friday.
GYA started in an aggressive note and scored twice in the first half virtually to seal the fate of the match. Deepak Parida drew first blood in the 15th minute while Pintu Behera doubled the lead in the 20th minute.
Top schools triumph
The MCL Cup Inter-School Table Tennis Championships and Bhubaneswar Table Tennis Championships were inaugurated at the Sahid Nagar indoor hall here Friday. St. Xavier’s HS, Khandagiri, KIIT International School and St Joseph’s HS won their matches in their respective categories.
