Jawans killed in bus-truck collision: CM expresses grief, announces ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh

Lakhanpur: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his deep grief and condoled the death of of two Jawans of OSAP 2nd battalion in a road accident in Lakhanpur area of Jharsuguda district, early Friday morning.

 

The CM conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved families and announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased jawans. He also announced government job for the deceased jawan’s family members.

The Chief Minister also wished speedy recovery of the 30 injured jawans and ordered free treatment. CM will also visit the injured at Burla hospital today. In case of any threatened disability an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh has been announced.

 

According to reports, two police personnel and 30 others sustained critical injuries after a bus carrying OSAP 2nd battalion jawans collided head-on with a speeding truck near a petrol pump on NH-49 in Belpahar of Jharsuguda district in the morning.

The deceased OSAP jawans were identified as Prashant Behera and Shankar Prasad Pant.

The cops were on their way to Banharpalli for deployment ahead of the CM’s programme scheduled today.
