Gudvella: Police in Bolangir district Wednesday recovered the body of a 27-year-old junior engineer (JE) from his rented accommodation in Gudvella, officials said.
The deceased, identified as Prabir Behera of Kanikapada in Jajpur’s Mangalapur police station area, was working as a junior engineer on a mega drinking water supply project in the Gudvella block.
He was staying in a rented house at Jagannathpada in the block headquarters. According to police, Behera shared an accommodation with one of his colleagues who had gone home on leave April 24.
When the engineer did not respond to repeated phone calls Wednesday morning, co-workers alerted the police.
A police team reached the residence and found Behera’s body hanging from a ceiling fan with a rope. The body was brought down in the presence of police personnel.
A scientific team visited the spot and initiated an investigation.
The cause of death is yet to be ascertained. Police have registered an unnatural death case at Tusura police station and informed the family.
The body has been sent to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir for post-mortem examination. Officials said the exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem report.
