Kandhamal youth arrested for posing as Maoist

Kandhamal: The Kotagada police in Kandhamal district arrested a youth Sunday who has been extorting money from the villagers by posing as a Maoist.

Sources said, the fake Maoist had been threatening a youth named Uttam Uthana Singh, who was a Gram Rozgar in the Dharakota panchyat.

Uttam said that he even received death threats from the youth for not giving him money. He registered a complaint regarding this at the Kotagada police station.

After the FIR was registered, the police started an investigation.

However, during investigation and raids in the area, police learnt about the involvement of a fake racket. This fake Maoist has been involved in such cases in Jharkhand.

The youth shortlists big industrialists, businessmen and extorts money from them.

The miscreant had mastered the art by using the language mostly spoken by Maoists. He even followed their accent, style and looks.

The accused has since been arrested.
