Kids’ smile that deserves to be clicked

Despite personalised camera phone photography, special photo shoots of kids are getting popular in the city. Orissa POST spoke to some parents and photographers and sought their opinion about the kids’ photo shoot

Bhubaneswar: We see faces everywhere. But those who look pretty and attractive in photographs are a few. When it comes to kids, their physiognomy, call it a special facial feature or simply a photogenic face, is adorable. Children naturally look cute in photos whenever they get clicked. Earlier, family members used to take the kids’ photos, generally during their birthdays or on special occasions. But, now, thanks to digital revolution and
smart camera phones, every movement of a child can be caught on camera and stored. Despite personalised camera phone photography, special photo shoots of kids are getting popular in the city. Orissa POST spoke to some parents and photographers and asked them about the trend of kids’ photo shoot.

Ankit Mahato of MUSES Studio: Nowadays, the kids’ photo shoot is a big thing and is taken seriously by the parents. Celebrities such as Kareena Kapoor, Karan Johar, Tushar Kapoor and others were in the news recently not
for their upcoming films but for theirnew born children’s looks.

In the city here, the kids’ photo shoot is very popular. Mahato said children have the most natural face and their smile is the most natural thing in the world. The main difference in kids’ photo shoot is that here the child is the boss and making him prepare for the photo session is the hard task as they will not listen to you easily. In kids’ photography, we can’t use lights as it affects their eyes and we usually prefer natural light and locations like parks.

Mahato said that basically parents come to get their son’s first birthday or first cut of hair clicked. Nowadays, some parents want a photo collage of their kids from birth to first birthday for creating a special memory. The cost of kids’ photography is less than that of a wedding photo shoot. The cost can go up to Rs 10,000 depending on the location.

Debasis Patnaik of Image Studio: Kids are spontaneous and you can’t expect them to pose according to your wish. The most challenging thing about photographing children is their calmness for which we expect their parents to be with them. He said that nowadays many parents are excited about getting the photos of their kids clicked artistically. In a month, more than eight to ten clients come with their children for special photo shoots.
Rahul Roy of Roy Photography: Taking children’s photos is always a challenge because the kids are not like mature adults. You have to play with them to get a perfect pose. It is very rare for us to get a kid who can give natural pose easily which is very sweet. Photo shoot of newborn children is also getting popular as parents and grandparents cherish the special moments.

Smita J Singh, the mother of one-year-old Samarvir: Earlier people used to say that clicking photos of new born is very bad and used to be very superstitious about these things, but I think that these are the memories which I will cherish my whole life.

Snata Mohapatra, mother of Krishu: Photos are memories and clicking kids’ photos is one thing that excites me very much. The photo shoot gives me the chance to have perfect photos of my child which sometimes does not happen in the mobile phone camera. The photos can be enlarged to any size and saved for whole life.
