Bhubaneswar: Mountaineers Kusha Arlab and Srinibash Natha of Orissa were accorded a grand welcome along with their instructor and Mount Everest conqueror Kalpana Dash, here Sunday. Both Kusha and Srinibash were successful in reaching the top of Mount Renock (16,500 ft) located in the Sikkim-Himalayan range.
Kusha and Srinibash reached the summit on the morning of October 6. The expedition was a part of the training procedure which the two attended at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, September 15-October 12.
Incidentally ace mountaineer Devidutta Panda of Orissa is the principal of the institute.
“It was a great experience for us to train in the prestigious Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. We have learnt the basics of adventurous sports. I think it will be of great help to us in future,” stated Srinibash, who is a +3 Arts student of Rajendra College in Bolangir.
Kusha is also a +3 Arts student at the Koraput Government College. He thanked his instructors for their guidance and help. “I will like to thank Devidutta sir and Kalpana madam for helping us with their expertise,” he signed off.
