Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate police Sunday claimed to have cracked the murder mystery of the lady doctor, who was found dead in her rented house in Shree Vihar area here Friday.
The investigating team claimed the doctor took the extreme step following an altercation with her male friend.
“She injected poision on herself because of an altercation with her male friend,” said Chandrasekharpur IIC Deepak Mishra.
Mishra visited the hospital where the doctor Manaswini Barik, worked and quizzed her colleagues.
During preliminary probe, it was learnt that Manaswini was a divorcee with her first marriage being broken for some reason. Later, she developed a relationship with a doctor of the same hospital she was engaged in.
However, the lover doctor accused Manaswini of mingling with other colleagues. This led to frequent arguments between the two.
A few days before her suicide, they reportedly had a break-up and Manaswini was under severe stress. However, she hadn’t informed her family about it.
She was alone at home for some days as her brother had gone to Melchhamunda in Bargarh district as part of Nuakhai festival.
The couple again had an argument when she called him for the last time Thursday night. Upset over the issue, Manaswini took the extreme step, police said.
“Manaswini had worked at two private hospitals in Cuttack after her divorce from her first marriage,” IIC Mishra said, adding that the police are yet to get any proof to substantiate the murder allegation brought by family members.
