Gunpur (Rayagada):Police have arrested a lawyer accused of duping people through his chit-fund company here. Based on complaints by the victims, police registered a case.
As per the complainants, Sabar ran two chit firms by name List and Damono. The company offered lucrative returns for small investments. Many people deposited their money with these firms.
They suspected foul play as there was no payments coming from the two firms by way of interest. When they asked back the money they invested, Sabar played hide and seek. He had allegedly collected several lakhs from unsuspecting investors.
The Gunupur sub-divisional judicial magistrate’s (SDJM) court has issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against the advocate. Police arrested him Monday . The two chit firms have been sealed by the Rayagada police.
