Gandahati Paralakhemundi: With the tourism season round the corner, locals have demanded steps for immediate resurrection of one of the famous tourist spots in the state, Gandahati, which has been ravaged by cyclone Titli.
Gandahati is 30 km from here in Gajapati district. The cascading waterfall in the lap of nature, serenity and lush green forests attract tourists and picnickers.
But this season, the picture may be different if the administration does not take immediate steps to restore the lost sheen of Gandahati.
Prior to cyclone Titli, here was an amusement park developed at a cost of Rs 30 lakh. After visiting the waterfall, visitors used to spend time at this park. There were swings for children and varieties of flowers and foliage plants and shrubs, adding to its beauty.
Post Titli, the amusement park is beyond recognition. The swings are snapped and damaged. Flower and decorative plants are destroyed. Big trees in and around the park and near the waterfall are lying uprooted.
Locals have urged the administration to take immediate steps to restore the beauty of the spot.
