BHUBANESWAR:Loyola School, Bhubaneswar, celebrated graduation ceremony of its Standard X batch (2017-2018) February 3. It was a moment of pride for the parents and teachers. The programme commenced with a hymn seeking God’s blessings for the graduates. School president Satwik Srimansu Sahoo, who shared his experience, recounted the role of the school and its teachers in shaping up the lives its students. Pradeep Thakker, on behalf of the parents, shared how they had
all brought up their kids, who were tiny tots then, by holding their hands to school but are proud now to see them mature as adults. This was followed by principal Fr.Victor F Misquith SJ’s address which underscored the need for values in life rather than amenities.
The ceremonial lighting of candles by the principal and teachers and passing it on to the students symbolized the spread of knowledge for the posterity and across the globe. Children, who are beacons of hope, participated in the celebrations. Mementos and citations were given away to all 187 students.
The principal gave away awards to 40 students based on the criteria of significant achievement in academics, excellence in co-curriculuar activities, exemplary behaviour and contribution to the school. Special award, Dr Radhanath Mishra Memorial Trophy for Academic excellence for 20172018, was
handed over to Asutosh Sahoo. Abhipsa Behera received the Gyan Singh Kalsi Memorial Trophy for All-Rounder of the year and Ayush Das Dr KN Kar Memorial Trophy for All-Round achievement (Boys), Priyanshi Agarwal received the Aditya Prasad Mahanty Memorial Trophy for all round achievement (girls), Ishani Mohanty bagged Jyotsna Chayani Memorial Trophy for Excellence in Oriya and Satwik Srimansu Sahoo and Arya Prasad bagged the prestigious Patrick Brunton award for Mr and Ms Loyola respectively.
