Sambalpur: After Abineet Parichha of Bolangir, who topped the all-India ICSE examination this year, the tribal-dominated district has hogged the limelight again with Lucky Behera having made it to the top slot in Plus-II science examination with a scoring of 93.33 per cent.
Lucky, who hails from Khuntasamalei village of Patnagarh, is keen to pursue B-tech, and got admitted in an engineering college after securing 176 marks in joint entrance examination (JEE) main. During an interview with Orissa POST, Lucky, an alumnus of Sambalpur-based Newton Plus-II Science Residential College, said he would take a decision about his future after completing B-Tech.
“Focusing on solution of critical problems is the key to success. Students should work hard to develop their potential,” says Lucky, who loves to listen to music, read novels and watch and play cricket matches during leisure.
The eldest son of Hirachandra Behera and Tapaswini Behera, Lucky studied for 7/8 hours-a-day in the hostel apart from attending classes. He created a record by securing cent per cent marks in Physics.
He attributed the credit of his success to his parents, teachers and principal of the college. He added that he was referring to a number of books in the college library which helped him achieve the goal.
Commenting on the present-system of education, he said the current system is okay. The decision of the state government to initiate CBSE course in Plus-II is a welcome move. Students can perform well in competitive examinations once the course is introduced, he added.
Replying to a question on how students of private colleges fare better than their government counterparts, the Bolangir boy said private colleges take personal care of students to ensure that each student come up and perform well. Government colleges lag behind in this regard. PNN
