Bhograi: Police arrested a youth Wednesday, who was accused of torturing a college girl and her boyfriend on the Talsari beach in Balasore and making their nude video viral.
The accused was identified as Ashok Mandal, (22), of Bindhapadmapur. He was produced in court. As his bail was rejected, he was sent to jail. Two others involved in the incident are absconding. Police have started a manhunt to nab them.
This newspaper had carried a report about this August 11. After the nude video of the girl and her boyfriend went viral, the women of a Self Help Group (SHG) had staged protests near the Talsari Marine Police Station August 10. They demanded action against the culprits.
The Plus-III student and his girlfriend studying in Plus-II had visited the beach August 1. Three miscreants accosted and followed them. Finally, the three forced them to a lonely place.
The miscreants allegedly molested the girl and asked them to have physical relations. But the girl refused to do so. The miscreants stripped her naked and forced her boyfriend to have physical relations with her.
The miscreants filmed it and demanded Rs 20,000 from the couple. They threatened to make the video viral if the couple does not pay. The students managed to arrange Rs 15,000 and set themselves free from their clutches.
