Malkangiri: Anita Kumari Parida, an Auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) under Kalimela community health centre (CHC) in Malkangiri district was among the 35 nurses whom President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the prestigious Florence Nightingale Awards for their outstanding services during a function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, on the occasion of International Nurses Day Saturday.
Her dedicated contribution during the outbreak of Japanese Encephalities (JE) in 2016 in the Maoist-affected district got her the prestigious award. Besides, 100 % institutional delivery has been done in the Mudakhal Sub-Centre due to her dedication and hard work.
Malkangiri district administration had awarded her as best Health Worker in the district earlier this year.
Kovind lauded the dedication and contribution of nurses to the nation and stressed on the need for strengthening the nursing sector. Addressing the ceremony, the President said the entire nation is grateful to the nursing community for playing a vital role in keeping our country healthy. He called the nurses the true nation builders.
He stressed on the need for more number of nurses and encourage more people to take nursing as their profession.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated Anita on the achievement.

She is face of our front line warriors who are driving mission #HealthForAll, earning national & international praise. Filled with pride over her recognition,” Patnaik said on his twitter handle.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena congratulated her and appreciated her dedication to serve the community.
“I congratulate all the Awardees of Florence Nightingale Award-2018, who have been honored with the prestigious award for their exemplary service and thank each one of you for your yeoman service and contribution toward patient care and well-being of fellow citizens.” Jena tweeted.
