Malkangiri stun Cuttack B, seal U-16 semifinals berth

Cuttack: Malkangiri created an upset of sorts defeating a fancied Cuttack B side to move into the semifinals of the Inter-District under-16 cricket tournament at the Ravenshaw ground (1) here, Tuesday. They were joined in the last four stage by Sundergarh, Cuttack A and Bhubaneswar A.

The Malkangiri bowlers restricted Cuttack B to a modest score of 132 all out in 45.4 overs with Stelonraj Khosla, Ashutos Dash, Subham Naik and Ranjit Mohanty picking up two wickets apiece. When Malkangiri batted both Subham (36 n o) and Ranjit (33) contributed with the bat as well as their team reached the target in 39.3 overs.

In the semifinals to be played June 21, Cuttack A will face Sundargarh while Bhubaneswar A will meet Malkangiri.

Brief scores: Cuttack B 132 (Sankalp Samantray 45; Stelonraj Khosla 2/20) lost to Malkangiri 133/7 (Subham Naik 36 n o) by three wickets.

(At BOSE Ground): Jajpur 179/7 (Raman Kumar Das 55, Partha Sarathi Sahoo 2/26) lost to Bhubaneswar A 180/3 (Spandan Mohanty 60 n o, Sudarshan Swain 54) by seven wickets.

(At SCB Ground): Sambalpur 66 (Pratyush Das 2/10,) lost to Cuttack A 67/2 (Prince Sanket Behera 32) by eight wickets.

(At Nimpur Ground): Bhubaneswar B 60 (Goutam Yadav 3/3, Anurag Senapati 2/6) lost to Sundergarh 62/8 in 26.3 overs (Ansuman 4/15) by two wickets.
