Chandragiri: A man axed his wife to death after the couple had an argument over some family dispute at Khidasingh village under Mohana police limits in Gajapati district Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Khira Ranasandh (58), wife of the accused Kora Ranasandh.
On receipt of information, police reached the village and arrested Ranasandh. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. A blood-stained axe was also seized from his possession.
During the preliminary investigation, the police found out that the woman had disputes with her husband over family issues. The couple broke out in an altercation over the same issue Monday morning. Following this, her husband took an axe and hacked her to death.
As per available information, police have sent the body to a local hospital for post-mortem and launched a probe into the matter.
