Balasore: Unidentified miscreants shot at a youth and to ensure his death, they hacked him with a billhook leading to his death on the spot. The broad daylight murder took place at Kuruda Square under Balasore Sadar police limits Sunday.
Past enmity is said to be the reason behind the murder.
The deceased has been identified as Binod Bihari Das, a resident of Jagannath Patna under Sadar police limits.
Binod had gone to Kuruda Square for some work Sunday morning. Catching him by surprise, two miscreants on a motorcycle appeared on the scene and opened fire at him. The bullet hit Binod’s head. Before speeding away from the spot, they too attacked him with a billhook, in order to ensure his death.
The incident left the people in a state of panic. On getting information, a team from Sadar police station reached the spot and rescued a critically wounded Binod and rushed him to Balasore district headquarters hospital (DHH). The doctors there pronounced him received dead.
The cops have launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants involved.
