Bhubaneswar: In a tragic end to a three-month old marriage, a husband strangulated his wife at Munda Sahi under the Nayapalli police limits and fled the scene Thursday. The deceased was identified as Jhili Mala of Tapobana area in Khandagiri police limits. The accused husband, Madhu Maiti of Ganjam district had been staying in the Munda Sahi and worked as an employee at a sweet shop here.
Notably, the couple, the husband and the wife, was divorcees and was married in a temple with the consent of their families. Sources said the couple was going through a turbulent phase of life and Thursday the situation worsened when an enraged Madhu throttled his wife with a towel. The article used in the crime was found draped around the neck of the wife’s corpse. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
