Cuttack: A worker got trapped inside a pipe at the pump house of the Tulasipur police colony under Bidanasi police limits here Thursday morning.
The victim, Pranakrushna Muduli, was carrying out cleaning work. At about 8am , he was sucked into the pipe, allegedly due to pressure from a speed motor attached to the pipe. He fell about 15-20 metres down due to the pressure of pumping. The pipe of 5-ft radius stretches up to the Mahanadi.
The cleaning work was being done at the behest of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC). On being informed, ODRAF and fire officials rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation with instruments and apparatuses like JCB, suction machine, breathing apparatus, blower etc, sources said.
