Malkangiri: Maoists killed another tribal youth in this district suspecting him to be a police informer, police said Tuesday.
The armed rebels barged into 22-year-old Muya Kabasi’s house at Jandraguda village in Temurupalli panchayat under the jurisdiction of Mathili police station Monday night, dragged him out and beat him to death, the police said.
The victim’s body was recovered Tuesday morning, they said.
The Border Security Force (BSF) and the police have started combing operation in the area, said superintendent of police (SP) Jagmohan Meena.
The Maoists left a poster near the body threatening the villagers of similar consequences if they work for the police.
Meanwhile, the villagers had a different version to share over the killing. Muya had left his village two years back and gone to Malkangiri town to work as a daily labourer. However, he returned to his village Friday ahead of Sankranti festival.
Muya left home Sunday evening to watch a ‘jatra’ at Temurupalli village. The ultras somehow came to know about it and abducted him from Temurupalli. His body was recovered from the main road near Galiaguda Monday night. The rebels, in the poster, said Muya has been punished as he used to ‘inform police’ about Maoist activities from 2015 to 2017.
The left wing extremists had killed another tribal youth December 9 in Chitrakonda area of the district suspecting him to be a police informer. PNN
