Nayagarh: Despite heavy security arrangements due to ongoing polls in the state, Maoists made their presence felt Wednesday night as they stormed Banigochha Forest Range office in this district and looted weapons from the staff.
According to a source, as many as seven heavily armed Maoists entered the office located in Daspalla block at about 9 PM and looted three guns and seven mobile phones while ransacking the office under gunpoint. No harm was done to the staff though.
Later they affixed propaganda posters on the walls of the office before leaving the premise.
The forest department officials have lodged a complaint on this context with Daspalla police.
The Red Rebels had disconnected electricity supply to the office before carrying out the raid.
