Sambalpur: A vaccination campaign against measles and rubella will be launched in this district from January 29 to March 16.
Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Dr Kalyan Gupta told media persons Thursday that the proposed campaign would cover the entire district to make it measles and rubella free.
He said vaccination would be given free of charge at all government health centres and educational institutions in the district during the campaign. All ANMs, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and health workers would be involved in the drive.
All government and private educational institutions would be covered in the first two weeks and the remaining areas like villages, slums and local areas in the old city and upcoming new colonies would be covered in the third and fourth weeks. In the final week, the campaign would cover all areas left out earlier, Dr Gupta said.
He said a total number of 2,60,598 boys and girls –180,641 students in 1,754 educational institutions and 79,957 children in slum areas — under the age of 15 years have been identified for vaccination.
