Morada: Amid an atmosphere of doubt and confusion over child lifting rumours, people of Asanbani and Saria allegedly beat up a mentally challenged youth in Jamabani area under Morada block in Mayurbhanj district Saturday.
The victim had been doing odd jobs in Morada area for four years. He was speaking Hindi. People of Asanbani and Saria suspected the youth to be a child lifter.
They tied his hands and legs and thrashed him. Police rescued him. Several such cases were reported from various parts of the district.
