Balasore: Four persons, including three minors, were arrested Tuesday for allegedly gangraping a minor girl and circulating a video of the assault online, police said.
Though the incident occurred seven months ago, police registered a case (305/25) and began an investigation Monday, after the survivor revealed it before her family members.
Police arrested one adult suspect and detained three minors for questioning. The victim, the detained minors, and the arrested suspect underwent medical examinations Tuesday. The incident occurred when the 15-year-old girl from a village under Darada panchayat was lured by a male friend to a secluded location.
There, the friend, along with three other minors, allegedly gangraped her. The perpetrators recorded the assault on their mobile phones and threatened to make the video and photos public if she reported the incident. Frightened and ashamed, the girl remained silent. The victim’s statement was recorded in court Tuesday. The adult accused was produced in court while the minors were sent to Juvenile Justice Board.
