Cuttack: A baby boy stunned everyone after he was born with four legs and four hands and two bodies attached to a single head. The baby was born with a part of his parasitic twin attached to his lower half.
The bizarre birth took place at a private nursing home near Mangalabag Kathagola Sahi here.
According to sources, a woman of Nayagarh district was admitted to the nursing home after she underwent labour pain a few days back. The delivery was normal.
While the mother was normal after delivery, the baby’s condition deteriorated. Hospital sources said the extra limbs and torso were of the baby’s parasitic twin.
Parasitic twins are similar to a conjoined twin, but the second underdeveloped baby is not fully formed and wholly dependent on the blood supply of the living baby.
Locals thronged the nursing home to have a glance of the baby as the birth was the first of its kind.
