Cuttack: Unidentified hooligans Friday night hurled bombs at a Police Control Room (PCR) van at Kurunti village under Cuttack Sadar Police limits here.
A homeguard, identified as Kedranath Samal, sustained head injuries in the attack and was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital here.
Sources said, some miscreants hurled a bomb at contractor Alokendu Das’s house in Kurunti village. On getting information, the police reached the spot. Seeing the police, the miscreants targeted the van and hurled bombs at the police vehicle.
Two days ago, two accused, identified as Juga and Babuna, had demanded Das to cough up Rs 50, 000 over construction of a house in the locality, according to reports.
However, Das refused to pay anything to them. This irked the duo and they descended on Das house. Brandishing guns, they demanded Rs 1 lakh and later hurled bombs.
Police seized a motor cycle and detained two persons. An investigation has been launched.
