Boinda: A woman of Sambalpur region who went missing near Nakichi under Handapa police limits in Angul district Thursday has been traced in Jagatsinghpur district, the police said Sunday.
She is with one of her relatives in Jagatsinghpur district, Handapa IIC Sunil Kumar Kar said.
According to police, the woman was travelling with her husband and daughter from Sambalpur to Bhubaneswar in a car. She went missing near Nakichi after she got down from the vehicle to relieve herself.
She brought out a water bottle to attend nature’s call when the car’s door got locked accidentally. Her husband mistook that she got inside the car and drove the vehicle, leaving her on the desolate road. The husband realised this only after reaching Boinda. He drove back to Nakichi and searched for his wife, but to no avail.
Greatly distressed and shocked at the turn of events, he went to the Handapa police station and lodged a complaint. Police registered a case and launched a search operation at every possible location to trace the woman.
They searched for the woman in the villages in the area, local bus stand and the railway station but failed to get any clue about her.
The police, however, detained five persons as eyewitness claimed to have seen her walking down the road sobbing after five persons including an auto-rickshaw driver molested her. The detainees are being interrogated and the auto-rickshaw has been seized, the police said.
Later, the police were tipped-off that the woman has managed to reach the house of one of her relatives.
Kar said the actual reason behind the incident could be ascertained only after the woman is rescued from the place in Jagatsinghpur.
