Bhubaneswar: With the continuous rise in Covid cases in Ganjam, the state government has chalked out a strategy for the hotspot district.
The paediatric ward of MKCG Medical College and Hospital will be turned into a special Covid Care Centre (CCC) and it will remain under supervision of the district Collector. Emergency and OPD units of the medical college will be reopened for the patients soon.
The government has also decided to reserve 10 per cent beds in all CCCs and Covid Health Centres (CHCs) of the district for the patients, who are coming to the centres with critical conditions. This decision was taken at a high-level meeting held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary PK Mohapatra here, Saturday.
Similarly, the government has decided to open 150-bed CCC at Bidyutpur in the district while another CCC of same capacity will be set up at Saraswati Sishumandir at Berhampur town, which will be monitored by the Berhampur Municipal Corporation, while City Hospital will provide the healthcare services at the centre.
A panel headed by a psychiatrist will be formed to boost the morale of Covid patients. The panel will do tele-counselling of the patients under treatment at various healthcare facilities in the district. Recovered patients will be engaged as advisor and Covid monitor, who will counsel at least 10 patients and Rs 1,000 will be provided to them.
Free medicine kit will be provided to the patients who are under home isolation. Hotels in Berhampur and Gopalpur will be reserved by the Collector for accommodation of doctors and other frontline workers.
Besides, the government has decided to start tele medicine service for other patients who are advised not to visit hospitals.
