Deogarh: More than 25 Maoists managed to give a slip to the anti-Naxal forces of the Odisha police Sunday under the cover of dense forest and darkness. There was heavy exchange of the fire between the Left Wing Extremists and the forces inside Rakura forest in Deogarh district, said Additional Director General of Police, Operations, R P Koche. However, no casualties have been reported from either side in the operation.
Acting on a tip off about the presence of the red rebels, security personnel comprising of Special Operations Group (SOG) of Odisha Police and District Voluntary Force (DVF) were combing the forest for two days. Koche said, search operations have been intensified with multiple teams joining the search party to nab the Naxals alive. Police suspect Sambalpur Deogarh Sundergarh division commander Anmol alias Samarji alias Susanta was present along with other Maoist in the forest.
ADG, Operations informed that arms and ammunitions along with Maoist materials were seized during the operation which included: a 9 mm carbine, a 9 mm carbine magazine, 10 rounds of 9 mm ball ammunitions, one set 7.62 mm SLR bridge block, a 7.62 mm SLR magazine, three rounds of 7.62 mm ball ammunitions, an axe, a knife, a solar plate, a computer keyboard, two umbrellas, two medicine boxes, two saline bottles, four Maoist literature books, five bags containing dry fruits among other things.
